Conversion of bungalow into 2 apartments

Successful planning approval for a single storey side and rear extension to provide 2 x 2 bedroom apartments near Abbey Wood Station.

This project has been particularly challenging for the location of the development in a Flood Zone 3 area. Also, the property lies in an area benefitting from the presence of flood defenses.

The flood mitigation measures that has been incorporated into the project and approved by the Environmental Agency are as follows.

  • The extension areas and lower level areas of the project to be constructed in a flood-proof manner resistant to the ingress of water.
  • Self-closing uPVC flood doors (passive flood defence) and windows to be installed in both apartments.
  • Non-return valves on any new sewer connections to prevent backflow.
  • Exterior ventilation outlets, utility points and air bricks to be flood-proof.
  • The site owner and residents to sign up to the EA Flood Warning/Alert Service and have an evacuation plan.

After more than a year of the long wait and, after making many changes, we have obtained the approval from the Council to start work on two homes in London.

Portland Villas in Gravesend has been especially hard due to the location in a conservation area and the house in Walthamstow has been delayed by endless negotiations with the Planning Department.

The property is part of a mayor residential development in the picturesque Union Island that is part of the nation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The main feature of the house is the elevated living area and the viewing platform at top floor.

Vigo House Planning Approval


We are pleased to announce that Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council has Granted Permission for two storey rear extension and front porch at Vigo House, Gravesend Road, Sevenoaks.

Following conversations with the Council due to the location of the property within an area designated as Countryside in the Council’s Core Strategy and within the Metropolitan Green Belt and the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we have achieved a proposal that suits the needs of the client and the design considerations of the Borough Council and local Stanstead Parish Council.

DBA has changed the CAD platform for Building Information Modeling (BIM). BIM’s blend of graphics and data is especially good at detecting clashes that can then be eliminated before escalating into expensive on-site issues. It also offers powerful scheduling, analysis, costing and programming capabilities.

New Start up for DBA

After 20 years working for different companies in Europe and Asia, David Fernandez Blanco has formed David Blanco Associates Ltd. The company has been incorporated under the Companies Act 2006 as a private company in the Companies House on 8th August 2016.

Based in Abbey Wood will provide services in and around Woolwich, Greenwich, Blackheath, Lewisham, Dartford, Gravesend, Sevenoaks and all surrounding areas of South East.
